HI Missy, I like to think in life there are always people we can trust, sometimes people can upset us or do things that make us think otherwise but we should never dis guard it as a break of trust, it could be they where looking out for our better interests. And I would assume you can always trust yourself, we all make mistakes we are only human x Donver x

Just think of it as a lesson learnt, Who ever these people/person is let them get on with it, the more fuel you add to a fore the more it will burn. Dont be hard on yourself for trusting in them. You put your trust into someone and that was a good thing, they took your trust and misused it, so next time you will be more cautious over who you choose to trust in, the older we get and the more life lessons we learn the easier it will be to just know who you can and cannot trust. x

he told my secret that wasnt his to tell what would you do if you had a secret that wasnt yours to tell?

Hi Missy.

Firstly the one person you can trust is yourself, as Donver has said we are all guilty of misjudging someone and it is a lesson we must learn from. Not everyone will use you and I am sure you will find people who you can trust and will not let you down.

Stay strong Kenny xx

Know the feeling. Felt it many times before.

Usually I try to get an outsiders opinion on the issue, as they may offer a perspective you didn't realize. From there you can gauge how accurate you are in your assessment of people.

Until today, I'm still amazed at how many I make mistakes about people, and who is trustworthy or isn't. I think it's a continual learning process, and even when you think you know it all, someone may come along to hurt you and betray your trust. I think it's about accepting this fact and not blaming ourselves for those who betray our trust. Self blame and doubt is a form of coping mechanism; since we can't control what others do to us, we tell ourselves, if only we learnt to be better judges of character, this wouldn't happen to us. I don't think there is a single person out there who can say they have been an excellent judge of character, and in being so, avoided their trust being betrayed.

So go easy on yourself and practice self compassion, regardless of how many may betray your trustAfter all at the end of the long road, only you will be there for you, so it's counter productive to turn on yourself and blame yourself for trusting others.

the condition you describe is being schizotypal,(nothing to do with schizophrenia) there is a saying that goes; love many, trust few and always paddle your own canoe, love and humour is the key when you're like this, trust has nothing to do with it because in truth, it is not safe to blindly trust anyone,,as the teacher said; "Be as gentle as doves and as wise as the serpent"
