My anxiety seems to be getting worse and worse and I was just wondering how people cope? Doctors ignore me and I can't afford to go private because I am in debt.
Hi, I'm new here...: My anxiety seems to be... - Anxiety Support
Hi, I'm new here...
Hello dp87..If your not getting the help you need go to the Hospital. Why is your GP ignoring you.If your unable to control your anxiety and you feel that its getting worse you will soon need some help.. anything we can do on this site.. were all here to listen....steve
Thanks Steve. I don't have any family to support me and don't want to be a burden to my friends. I guess I just want to know how other people cope...
Be a burden..If you have no family... your friends will be there for you... Talk to your closest friend... Get a hug. Don't live a lie.. its the worst thing anyone can do.. if your sick.. don't repress it... we all need to deal with it... and if you shut yourself off from any help or loving intentions that could come your way that`s a mistake... I hope you`ll find that you cant solve all the problems at once... it takes time and you`ll need support to do it.. steve
Hi & Welcome
The more you talk on here & people get to no just how your anxiety affects you people will relate to you & it is a huge help knowing you are not alone with this any more
We all have different ways of coping , some take meds , others counselling , talking to people that understand the list goes on
You say your GP isnt helping well they should !
Have you thought about seeing a different GP can be in the same surgery , I would try as you shouldn't even have to think of paying to go private !
I am sure you will get lots more members welcoming you to the site & good advise
Love

Thank you WhyWhy. I feel quite alone sometimes and so it's good to talk to other people.
, hi dontpanic, steve is right, the doctor should be treating you now, if you are in a practice see the receptionist and ask to change to a doctor who specialises in anxiety and panic related illness, and ask for an appointment with him/her straight away, there is lots of medication which can be programmed just for you, and as whywhy has said there is great people on here who give great advice, keep posting, good luck, love jasper. xxx
hi,have you heard of Doctor Claire Weekes she has written self help books and audio tapes that are really good. She explains very simply what is happening to you and explains why and how to cope with it. I know you have no money but if you could manage to read her work you would feel better She takes away with her explanations the fear and makes you see that there is light at the end of the tunnel, she really is very good. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
Hi
I agree with the comments already made, request to see a different doctor and kerp posting on here for advise. We all suffer from different types of anxiety and everyone is really friendly. When you get an appt with another gp take some notes with you to help explain how you feel

Just think of it this way. if you had a physical ailment your doctors wouldn't be fobbing you off. Write down how you feel and as others have suggested ask to see another doctor. In the meantime keep posting on here.

DontPanic87,
Hi it's good to hear from you. You've already given yourself a great piece of advice in choosing your username what ever you do don't panic. I've looked at the replies you had, and they all make good sense, try and listen to them. They will help you cope You say your anxiety seems to be getting worse, when did it start? and can you link it to any event ?
if you can it may well help you to face it. I see you say you have debt problems, have you sought help for these, try and make an appointment to see a social worker, and the Samaritans, they have many contacts which may be able to help.
I also see you say your Doctors ignore you, they have a duty to provide as much assistance they possible can, as anxiety can lead to depression and other forms of anxiety related illnesses. If you cannot relate to a Doctor in your practice, ask for an appointment with another one, preferably a female, as they are usually more sympathetic in these kind of illnesses.
Please try and follow the advice from all your friends on this forum. If you need to speak to any one of us, please contact us at any time.
All my best wishes,a n believe it will get better with suitable help and possible medication.
My best wishes to you
Jamiee
Hi all,
Very sound advice. A lot of my anxiety stems from my soap opera life. Often, the causes tend to be things that fall outside of my control: crazy family, stressful unforeseen events or things a little overwhelming to combat - such as workplace bullying really driving down my self esteem. I used to be able to bat a lot of stuff away, but the stress over such a long time has just been grinding me down. I have a lot of the classic signs of stress - I don't remember the last time that I've enjoyed a meal and usually rock the Quasimodo look on a regular basis with the paleness and sleep deprived eyes to boot - but this has elevated to panic attacks and even a dislike of crowds and going out. I used to be quite the social butterfly and I'm falling to pieces so much that I don't recognise myself. It makes me so angry that people can do it to one another. For me, apart from my friends, I don't have much support and so I just wanted to reach out and talk to people encountering similar difficulties - so as to not feel alone. Whilst I know there are people that can help, ultimately I know you need to be open to helping yourself as a first step - rather than drowning- and I just wanted to try and get some control back. After speaking to Anxiety UK, they recommended I come here - definitely a good move. I really appreciate all of your responses.
