I struggly alot with anxiety and OCD. Ocd is getting alittle better, but my anxiety is stillvery bad. I dont know if this will help, but it may be a start for you. i am reading up on someone called Carl Sheppard. He has a book coming out this summer. take a look at his site. may help. good luck. fingers crossed you find some answers soon.

no problem, sorry i couldnt b more helpful, but good luck in your search! i do believe that people should try talking to someone as well as looking for a pill. i totally understand why you would look for medication. wat concerns me about medication is after reading so many peoples stories about pills, trying to get the right medication and dosage seems so hard, im not sure what to do to help my anxiety and reading as much as possible helps me understand many different methods on how i can make myself better. stay strong and try abit of reading positive stuff ONLY, if thats possible, lol. ive found carl sheppard, anxiety rebalance to be good and he fits into my thinking. take care.xxx

OCD is caused by an unwanted 'bad' thought that causes the sufferer to perform an action or compulsion that leads the person to believe the action will prevent bad things happening. Anxiety often leads into OCD, many of us have some form of OCD, but some more than others. To treat the OCD, you need to treat the anxiety, you can be prescribed Citalopram (most common medication) from your GP. However, you can't have a specific label of medication, there are many labels and your doctor will decide which one he/she thinks will work best for you. Often, sufferers need to regularly 'switch' medications, as one may not work, finding the one that actually works is quite annoying. Anxiety medications normally take around 4 weeks to have any effect, so you won't notice any difference until 4 weeks after starting the course.

Medication only takes away the symptoms, it doesn't take away the problem. So you need to find out what is causing you the anxiety, seeing a therapist (cognitive behavioral therapy) will be able to assist you with this, and they will help you conquer the problem by giving you specially tailored techniques. Medication isn't the answer, only you can make changes and manage your anxiety and the causes, meds won't do that for you. But, they can give you the courage to work through them.
