Anyone had any positive outcomes on Lamactil?

I take an anti-depressant and lithium......currently anxious and depressed so been given Lamictal....on it a week x

I pushed my GP for lamictal before lithium as it was supposed to be weight neutral, and insisted that she issue a prescription for half the starting dose she recommended (as you are supposed to build up REALLY slowly) but as soon as I increased my dose from 25 to 50 mg I got a rash. Happily not THE rash, but any rash on lamictal warrants stopping it and a dose of corticosteroids. Prior to having to stop, though, I was starting to feel much better (I'm bipolar II and had been feeling horribly down since the birth of my second child, despite already being on a top-end dose of my anti-ds).

Do some reading on 'tinterwebs about lamictal / lamotragine titration rates. You really can't go up slowly enough with this drug.

It is a drug that can work well for you but seems to have a virtual limitless array of side efxs. Coming off of it now do to post nasal drip. Took for depression. Not on it very long. Have a long.... talk with your pdoc before starting as I believe the side efxs are totally under reported.
