SAD lamps - do they work and recommendations please if they do!

I don't suffer with long term depression but I do feel I get Seasonal Affected Disorder - especially since here in the UK our summer this past year was awful, not a blink of sunshine. I love being outside but now that the evenings are dark when I get home from work, I can't garden, walk etc as we live out in the country - too far to drive to in the evening.

Was thinking of getting myself a SAD lamp but was wondering what people think of them - are they helpful.

If they are - can someone tell me if there is a good one - so many on the market and don't want to spend money on something that is of no or little use.

Thanks for reading and replying.

I have a lamp. It's nothing special, I bought it off Amazon

I gave to say or really brightens the room and makes it seem like the sun is out. I noticed a big difference last year.

I say give it a try. It can't hurt

Thank you for your reply. I think I will get one. It's worth a try - not much sun these days so if I could trick my mind into thinking there was it might help.

I have one and do find it helpful. It would be more helpful if I used it all the time. lol . As far as the brand, mine is a Verilux Happy Light and I think, years ago, I got it on Amazon.

Thank you. Good to hear that they actually work. Must have a look on amazon.

I too am weather affected, I have been thinking of one, but I have a sight problem, which makes bright lights a difficulty.

Cheers, Midori
