Is this normal?

I am having a serious bout of anxiety and panic now - 17 days - started meds a week ago. Zoloft at 25 mg for 5 days then doc upped it to 50 two days ago. Did well the first day - had some real relief afternoon evening, but today it's out of control. Is this normal for anxiety to get worse while adjusting dose?

It's very possible UTGrandma for the side effects to break through until

the brain adjusts to the upped dosage. Please always keep in touch with

your prescribing doctor to let him know how you are doing.

He may want to reduce the dosage a bit but that is always his call

since he knows your health history. :) xx

I’m not sure about worse but I’m going h through the same thing. I have been on 50mg now for 2 weeks going on 3. The daily panic attacks have subsided but I’m still having issues driving. I wasn’t able to go far from home in a car. Now I’m ok when others are driving. I have also built myself up to driving to the next city over that’s about 10-15 mins away but today I tried going a little further and I had to pull over and turn around because I felt a horrible attack coming on. Give it time you will get better. I just keep telling my self slow progress is still progress just keep pushing.

For me and from what I’ve learned over my years, it take 2-3 months for the meds to get to full dose in your body and give you the full therapeutic effect. Stick with it!

100% normal. The symptoms always get worse for me when starting up. It takes a couple months for them to go away. But overall, they are worth not feeling the way I was feeling. I’m on Zoloft 150mg. Just had to increase 4 days ago and I’m still struggling with the increase. My doc gave me Xanax to help for the time being.
