Chocolate, chocolate chip cookies certainly do help. But honestly....I live with bad back pain from an accident many years ago, lots of bone spurts, etc....did all the therapy, did the Chiropractic thing, and the acupressure. ...none would completely stop the pain, just felt good while I was doing it. Drugs are out of the question for me...so...posture....I kid you not. I have to be more conscious of how I'm sitting to not make an already existing situation worse. Oh yeah, and swimming is the best...but where I live now I'd be a human pops cycle...but it's really the best for working your body gently, because you elevate a lot of gravity.
Thanks faux, I haven't been swimming in twenty-five years or so, since chronic pain took over.
I can't stand with my sneakers off for any reason. If my bare feet touch a hard surface, it not only hurts immediately, but my pain gets incredibly worse for a few weeks.
A doctor recommended aquatic therapy. The darn water center wouldn't even let me wear flip-flops to the pool edge. Not that I could tolerate flip-flops anyway, but come on.
Our yoga center refused to let me wear sneakers in the door. Barefoot -- or not welcome. OM
I aways wore those swim- fin booties/shoes...and if I were you, I would get a note from your doctor to say you have to wear them for medical reasons. Only some kind of jerk would deny you wearing your shoes for medical reasons. Sorry you had to go through that.
I had foot pain for a couple of years from working on concrete floors in construction. I couldn't figure it out, but it was killing me. I went to one podiatrist who looked at me for 10 seconds and said surgery....I said no thanks. Went to another guy who actually changed the position of my foot gate by taping gauze to the bottom of my foot and told me to walk around like that for a day and get back to him. I couldn't believe it....the pain was immediately reduced. So he cast my feet in plaster to make molds for orthotics that form fit my feet...and that was that....back to normal...it was like a miracle.
Woah goooood. What a great doc! Glad you didnβt listen to the first. I used to work construction-ish work- taking up and laying flooring. Can really beat ya up.
Yep... I was a lic. Painting and decorating contractor with my own business for almost 30 years, and I did a lot of new construction which meant working on concrete, and I really went through my shoes fast. I did a lot of lifting even with workers to help, I still did hands on work equally, mostly even more...and it's tough, I know what your talking about doing flooring...it's the second hardest thing to doing roofing I think. Kudos to you girl....sistas doin it for themselves.
Yes sistas gettingβ it dooooone. Concrete. Woah. Lifting oh yes, had to carry awkward heavy rolls of carpet into small halls, up stairs- but I took pride in my work like you, and I got f ing strong.
Whoa I had no idea about that part of your pain. That sucks of them. For you and anyone with your condition should be allowed what works, be flexible! people and their rules!
Thanks Starr. It causes me even more anxiety to try to follow treatments and there's always some kind of problem. I'm sick of doctors, clinics, especially pain doctors. If I didn't have this place to let me know I'm not the only one I'd be crazy... well, more crazy.
Looks like you've tried to get yourself signed up for some of the best treatments.
Have you tried doing yoga or stretching exercises at home? There are some easy workouts on your tube, just pick something that is beginner and geared toward your specific issue.
Chocolate chip cookies for pain was a bust. Have you tasted Chips Ahoy lately? They did something disgusting to them. I threw out the whole bag. Tons of complaints online, it's not just me. Yuck.πͺπ
I feel dearly for you I'm sitting here in very bad pain, arthritis and bad back and neck,a head on accident helped seal the pain deal 14yrs ago,and I can't get pain meds cause gov regulations, and I just did 2 months pt w no help but I went,I may also have lupus, which every joint n bones in my body hurt like heck, laying down only thing gives relief,I've gained 70lbs and that don't help anything...I sure you found relief, pls share anything that helps..God bless n hang in there chronic pain is very rough n effects thinking, sleep, appetite, depression which I suffer w also....
Thank you. Our bodies do remember injuries. I will share any miracle relief I find. It's morning now, and the pain's not so bad, so laying down through the night does help.
I don't know anything about lupus, except just about every patient on House may have it. π Oh, Dr. Google says it's autoimmune. The doctors considered that briefly for me too.
I'm curious about your screen name. Why "Pita?" I grew up with that stuff. Yum.
Chocolate chop cookies always helps most things. I hope you can find a good PT to help with your back. That can really make your life miserable. I always love having a good book to read.π
Choolate chip cookies make evrything better. I also have back pain, disgnosed with spinal stenosis, with walking and balance problems. I just finished a course of PT and it did help (20 sessions). Had an epidural with no results. No pain-killers help. What is your diagnosis and what have you tried? Have you found anything that helps? Are you seeing an orthopedic suregeon? What do they say? Have they brought up surgery? Mine says he may try a nerve burn next. Do you have something to try next (besides surgery, if they have even suggested that to you)? I have learned a lot about back pain; need a little more info on your condition.
