moving anxiety

as you may know my boyfriend and I move August 20th. My family isn’t able to help with the move so we got a U-Haul, and hired moves to help load and unload. We are responsible for driving the truck. I currently can’t sleep because my brain won’t shut off.

My boyfriend currently lives an hour and a half away from me. The place we are moving two is in the middle (45 mins). I was thinking my boyfriend and I would meet at the new place and leave my car there overnight and drive back to my place with his. Then we would pick up the U-Haul. I didn’t want one of us to have to drive it alone so I was thinking we’d drive together in it, unload, then drop it off in the town we moved to (already chose our drop off location). For this one of us would have to drive alone a short distance in the U-Haul while the other folllows. The problem with this is then we’d have to drive 45 mins back to my old place. Then imma boyfriend would get in his car and we’d then have to drive another 45 to the new apartment. Just seems like a lot of running around after moving. We could also pay to tow a car but that seems hard to maneuver with a truck.

I’m renting a 15 foot truck. I’m thinking I’d probably be okay driving it by myself as long as my boyfriend trails behind me. Just seems to make the most sense and minimizes all of the back and forth.

I wish my brain could shut off

Your last sentence says it all. Sheesh, I have a headache...😂

Ok, so here's what you do. This is very important, so take notes.

You ready?

Tell your brain to get off your back. Might I suggest saying one of the following:

-"Oh go to the beach, will you?"

-"I'm trying to sleep/calm down here. I highly suggest that you do the same"

-"Don't make me come up there!"

Seriously... your boyfriend will help you think through this, so please don't worry. It'll work itself out.

Good luck with moving! How exciting!!

If you don't mind profanity, it's a song that I think most people feel. This song lives rent free in my head

Moving is stressful. It is a lot of running around. And tiring. Hopefully it will go as smooth as possible

You'll get through this. Moving is so difficult and one of life's biggest stressors, but you will make it. Once it's done and you have a chance to settle in, it will be worth it. Very exciting time for you.
