I have been on 100mg of sertraline for 9 years and always been fine on the dose once I got it into my system. Had a health scare which has triggered my anxiety and depression dr put me up to 150 but I felt horrendous dr now dropped me down to 125mg I still feel bad after 8 weeks, also lack of sleep put on 10mg Amitriptaline which helps. I am wanting to come off the sertraline anybody got experience of this. Was it hard to come off.I was wondering if the 100mg has stopped working after being on it so long making it I could be on a very low dosage.
I don't react well to these sort of meds

Thanks Dolphin14 no my health scare is all sorted. I can't afford therapy. Waiting for NHS I have been on 100mg for a long time problems when I tried to up it.
I was on this med for many years. The psychiatrist did change it after we talked about the possibility it might not be working any longer. Maybe you should have another chat with him/her
I suggest you not try to come off of your medication until you become stabilized for a good period of time and after that do a very slow taper off of it. I was on sertraline for years (200mg) and it didn't really help with my anxiety. the only med that helped with my anxiety is Klonopin. The other thing that helped was learning that anxiety is a paradox and the more we resist, fight or deny it the more it persists, I found the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos very helpful for learning how to deal with it.
You're welcome, one thing to keep in mind about doctors and tapering which is most of them have never been on meds so they typically recommend a much shorter taper than what most people need. I've read where you should double or triple the amount of time they typically recommend.
I'd be careful about eliminating sertraline from your medication regimen. Under my doctor's supervision, I slowly reduced my dosage until I was off of it completely. Bad move! I went back on it and everything now is mostly okay.
