A Mental Strength Exercise to Try This Week - Try the 10-Minute Rule

When you’re putting off a dreaded task–like working out or cleaning the house–use the 10-minute rule. Tell yourself that you only have to do it for 10 minutes.

Once you get to the 10-minute mark, give yourself permission to quit if it’s awful. But you’ll likely find that you’re able to keep going.

Getting started is the hardest part. And the 10-minute rule can get you going so you can stop procrastinating and get things done.

I think 10 minutes is probably as long as my body will allow me to do anything that isn't sitting down, so I kind of use this rule with a difference - get up more often; do something for as long as you can and then sit again. Rinse and repeat.
