SSRI withdrawal symptoms

I have been on a high dosage of two anxiety and depression medications for years, and the side effects are now sufficiently bad that I'm looking for more natural alternatives, such as regular exercise and more talk therapy. I did a tapering down of the meds, but only for a couple of weeks, and have been sitting with awful withdrawal since stopping in February.

Two side effects that annoy me most is the brain zaps and the insomnia, but the one that is really affecting my daily life is the upset stomach. Especially at night, I have a constant rumble and cramps, and I am constantly bloated and uncomfortable.

Before running back to the meds, which for other reasons isn't a good idea, I thought I would ask here if anyone has advice on how to get over these side effects and the withdrawal.

Much appreciated!

It's been months but I just started posting on this site and just read your post. How have you done with the withdrawal symptoms from the SSRI's? I am also going to wean away from them myself. My antidepressant is sertraline (The generic form of Zoloft) as well as Trazodone that I take at night for sleep. I'm doing this because I am going to start a new alternative therapy called psilocybin therapy. I'm also thinking of an alternative called neurofeedback. I heard that was neurofeedback. You can still slowly wean away from your medication and still get this type of therapy using brain waves. Let me know how you have been weaning away from your medication.

Not what you're looking for?
