Happy Easter to All! Wish me luck as I go to my parents house for Easter and celebrate with them. i'm going to be very anxious (like i'm cornered where i can't escape).....around my family. I'll be thinking the same thoughts I continue to think (do they know that i'm hyper vigilant...). I'm nervous because were suppose to have an Easter egg hunt and a riddle written on a puzzle. My whole family will be doing that and that gives me anxiety because Idk how much I can handle being sucked into an activity where i cant escape. I'm just stressn...give me your thoughts and support please. Thanks

Some people don't realize we can have that same social anxiety even with our own family.

Make a plan where you can escape. Can you leave early if you want to? How about saying you want to go for a walk instead of taking part in the Easter hunt? Or if you are staying with them you could always say you are tired and go to your room instead.
I would try it anyway and see how it goes. You might enjoy yourself so much you don't want to leave it or finish. Try and concentrate on the game and every time your thoughts turn inward towards negativity consciously snap yourself out of it and dismiss those thoughts.
There are always ways to escape if you need to so rehearse some of these in advance as you will feel better if you know you have some control.

You will be okay. Try to engage with your family members that you really like to help distract. Maybe even volunteer to help clean up that way you can stay out of the games because you're on garbage detail π one of the tricks I used to use. .
Also if you feel you are getting a bit overwhelmed, excuse yourself to the bathroom and do some box breathing. Inhale for a count of 4 and hold for a count of 4 then exhale for a count of 4 and repeat.
