Anyone ever try to "reset" their gut? I have kind of dull gut pain a lot of the time. I always have nasty gas. I know the gut microbiome is supposedly linked with your brain and anxiety and all that so I am posting here. I used to eat protein bars or cookies with sugar alcohols and stevia but I have been off of those for a 10 days or so with no improvement...
I am very cheap so haven't done any tests anywhere

Hi, the bad, stubborn gut bacteria hangs around for days or weeks, It knows if they do eventually they'll be fed by you! Feed your stomach the good probiotics especially good fiber. For me it takes 72 hrs to eradicate carbohydrates and simple sugars from my body. You must be pro-active in your efforts. I say this in all seriousness born out from experience. Sugar is as addictive as cocaine. Everyone's body only needs a teaspoon more or less of sugar to balance your healthy functioning. Anymore affects insulin thus cortisol which your body in inflammation and a vicious chain reaction begins. When you control your anxiety your IBS symptoms might diminish substantially. I had IBS for over a year, I began an elimination diet using FODMAPS(Google it) the main culprits are milk products(gas, burping & bloating) as well as wheat(gluten), no wheat pasta, crackers, cookies etc. FODMAPS diet will help you while you work in anxiety issues. This not an overnight cure. It takes effort! My anxiety issues were more substantial. But I have cut them back by 60% and my IBS one day seemed to subside. That's a lot but each person is different. More to come if you're interested. Be careful, to not listen to all the voices you'll find on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.😉
yes, there is so much conflicting information out there. My anxiety has been pretty good, and I weaned off my meds about two months ago now. Maybe I need to adjust to that? I will give no sugar a go here soon! Thank you for responding!
It takes a long time to readjust our gut biome,I think best way is to eat fermented foods, sour kraut, good quality yogurt,Kim hi is very good,I'm in same boat w gassy very bloated belly, I been suffering w bad stomach issues,I have bad chronic pain that's unmanaged, and I take alot aspirin n paracetamol...
IBS effects everyone differently. Diet is a biggie. I had to try the trial and error method. Got no help from dr. or dietitian. I was told you will figure it out. Given a sheet of paper with a list of foods on it. After going from 185lbs to 119lbs and being in and of the hospital believe me I thought I was going to die. I got a new GI dr and excellent dietitian. Happily I can say I am now 132lbs. I still have occasional flares but it is so much better now. Yes,don't believe everything you read or see online.
