Anyone want to check in about caring for their pets?

I'm so depressed, I'm not walking my dog like I should. My goal is to walk my dog for forty minutes a day. Anyone else have a similar goal to take care of their pets?

In my deepest depression, walking my dog was often the only thing I looked forward to. Know that getting up and out of the house is absolutely the hardest part. Once that's done, it's only uphill from there! Something else that helps me is to take the bus or drive to a cool park or dog park. Dog parks are amazing (if your dog can do them) - put some treats in your pocket and you'll make all the friends 😊

Setting goals is such a good idea. I'm having a worse depression since I retired, two years ago. I'm a widow and live along, so that's hard. But I have two small doggies that live with me and they really help. I haven't been walking them much. One problem is that I developed arthritis in one know and it was painful to walk. I recently got a steriod shot and that helped a lot.

But I still haven't been walking them much. I need to make myself a schedule, and not just have random days. I've been meaning to do that this week but . . .

Ok, I'm going to make a commitment to start writing down a schedule. I want to include not only dog walks, but other daily tasks and events.

One day at a time -- that's how I'll get through this.

You can do it! I'm going to walk my dog for forty minutes at 1 p.m. EST today. I'll check in once I'm done. Maybe it would help you to do the same?

I did take the dogs on a short walk this morning (about 6 blocks), and they loved it. I do have to be careful, though, since I have bone-on-bone arthritis in one of my knees.

I can relate. I haven't been walking the dogs like I should for quite some time. Usually, I'll just take them out to do their business and stay outside for a few mintes and then inside we go. You've inspired me to make a change. Instead of shooting for a time goal, however, I'll have a distance goal. That seems like it will work better for me. I'm starting today with one lap around the block. Sending good vibes your way for your goal. You've got this.

Great! How did you do? I walked my dog for forty minutes this afternoon, which felt good, bc that is the amount of time that my son and I have agreed that each of us should walk him.

Congrats on hitting your goal. We did the block and got wet with the rain. Now the tricky part...keeping it going.

My girl needs a shower a couple times a day, once at the very least. She looks forward to it so much during this period while she's molting. She hurts and the shower relieves pain. I hate that it's so, but I'm not remembering as I should. 💜💜🦜

Nope, but here I go. I'll tell her you sent me.

I wish you could see her tilt her head back, close her eyes, and smile.
