Looking for Others Who Want To Recover

I'm a 48 year old female who's suffered from GAD 4 times since 2009 following a total car wreck. This current episode is debilitating and I'm having a nasty time trying to convince myself that I'll recover. I'm hoping to connect with others who are taking those baby steps and would like to take them with me. I also hope to hear from those who have recovered and are willing to walk along giving us some much needed advice along the path of recovery.

Welcome missantz! I’ve been dealing with anxiety and panic disorder for 10 years. And it is mainly GAD, I had a setback in October 2016 that took almost a year to get out of! I’m not new to anxiety at all, however this last setback was hell on earth! I am not 100%, however I am doing a lot better since about the end of September beginning of this November. I still can’t believe I let this get to the way it was since I’ve been dealing with it for so long. But it happened with a vengeance

Yes, I would love to take baby steps to recover. I have had severe anxiety and would love to have people here to talk to maybe on a daily basis for support.

There are many people on this venue throughout the world at all times of the day and night, may not be the same person, but am certain there will be someone. :)xx

I am kind of in the same place. My journey with anxiety began this summer. I found a good counselor and worked through it. I had a scare with a medical issue and had to wait about two weeks for it to be resolved. While waiting, the anxiety reared its ugly head again. I really thought It would subside once I found out everything was okay. It's been only a couple of days, but I feel like I am back at square one. Ughhh! I am doing my best to work my way out of this again, but at times it seems impossible! I was so sure that this would pass! I am trying to stay positive, but I really hate feeling like this!

I am 49 and was just recently given a diagnosis of GAD even tho my counselor thinks I’ve had it for years and was just never diagnosed. There is no cure for it, it requires on going treatment she said which I’ve never done. You haven’t had it 4 times, you’ve had it all along most likely like I have. And there are triggers that trigger it I was told mine is this time of year (seasonal affective disorder) and mine has become more debilitating too this time. So I’m back in counseling, have an appointment for a psychiatrist to evaluate and get a daily medication and when I feel better I will continue to see my counselor at least once a month and continue to treat it. I was so relieved to finally have someone explain to me why it’s “keeps coming back”. Sounds like we are in the same exact boat right now!!!
