I am a first medical student. I had a test today and despite working for it a week in advance I got 0.5/5.

Unfortunately, this subject has a different professor every week and I cannot talk to anyone. Preparing and yet getting bad marks or even worse failing is preventing me from working on my other subjects.

I'm sorry you did poorly on your exam.

Why are the professors changed weekly? Who writes up the exam?

May I ask what the subject is ? It seems unusual that the professor changes so frequently.

Biophysics

So does each professor teach a different aspect of it ?

Well, for lab classes, we learn the physics behind medical imaging techniques. So XRay is taught by one, ultrasound by another… like that

So who is actually writing up the test?

Are lab classes graded separate from lecture classes

I'm trying to figure out what test your took

It’s not just about this particular test… I’m always going through this. I work hard but don’t always get the result for it. The others who study lesser than me actually get better. And my feelings get worse when they admit that they didn’t study well yet managed to score well and that they have good luck.

Ah. I see. So- was the test on several aspects of the subject ?

Today it was based on X-RAY

Obviously I can't comment on specific subjects, as I know nothing about them.It would appear to me that you might need a little bit of guidance with learning how to study, and how to get maximum benefit from your revision. The first year can very difficult and quite a shock to go from supported study at school to independent learning . And I can appreciate that it can be difficult to ask for help or know where to get it.

I see on your 'help pls' post some members have come up with some good ideas to help you. I won't repeat what they have said

Also - there are a lot of helpful ideas online too.

I hope you can find someone to help and support you .

Unfortunately there are always people like that, and it's so frustrating, isn't it. I'm sure you do study hard and are a diligent student. But it might be worth looking at your revision technique and how you can optimise the way you retain information.

Thank you. I feel like I am very careless. But I don’t know what to do. I once tried to actually carefully do the questions and go through them again but I failed that test by one mark and I feel like I would have passed if I hadn’t gone through them again. What makes it worse is that I have always been the topper of my class and this is really bringing me down
