I need to vent because this thing is driving me crazy. I've had anxiety off and for most of my life and am used to the symptoms and the ways to deal with them. The last three weeks or so, I've been under a lot of stress and starting having random, intense itching. It started as just my hands, then my feet off and on, then random spots like scalp, face, arms, etc. It's never all at the same time and I have to force myself to stop scratching so I don't break the skin. It helps to put hydrocortisone cream on it. I've also been more emotional too.
Weird thing is....I have found myself sometimes distracted and suddenly realize the itching stopped. This is so weird. Anyone else ever get weird, new symptoms?

hello, grandmaof3. I get itching with my anxiety and my anti anxiety medication. it’s a total nuisance. I’ve been reading up a ton on this lately, I also get the sensation of a sunburn head to toe. what’s happening in the body from anxiety is theres all these new commands from the brain communicating you are in fact in danger, so the itchy feeling is the body redirecting your blood from less vital areas trying to protect the body’s most vital parts. it’s just the result of the blood changing locations.
I itch just about anywhere on my body when I’m about to leave the house. Been going on for years. I take only half of a benedryl, which keeps me from getting tired. It usually goes away pretty quickly.
