I got sick over 3 months ago and was prescribed a ZPack and a Medrol Pack. Three days into the treatment, I began experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. I continued the treatment and was told that my side effects would go away within 7-10 days after taking the last dose of the Medrol pack.

Well, here I am three months later and still suffering. My Dr can't explain it. Something in my brain got out of balance. I really hope a short term treatment will correct it. The idea of having this and being on meds for the rest of my life is unnerving.

I have been prescribed Hydroxyzine. It worked pretty well in the beginning, but not so much now. I only use it when needed. I have also been prescribed Mirtazapine. It works, but it has left me feeling groggy/hang over.

I don't like taking meds and have a real concern with meds, since meds created all of this. Finding help for this has been difficult. I prefer to find a psychiatrist who does in person psychotherapy. I did see a psychiatrist, but they just wanted to prescribe meds.

Has anyone else had a bad reaction to methylprednisolone?

I'm sorry for your struggles. Regretfully this is not uncommon. I can only speak for Mirtazapine. It worked well for me for 15 years before it didn't work anymore. My provider started me on 30mg which after a short time caused me to be drowsy. She then lowered it to 15mg after a few months which I took until mid 2023. Perhaps you could discuss with your provider. Maybe you are being prescribed too high a dosage. I wish you well.

Thank you.

It seems that I need to come up with a safe combination of meds that address the anxiety/panic attacks and sleep.

I've not had a reaction like that to a medrol pack, but then again I already have anxiety. I do know steroids can cause anxiety. So sorry that happened to you. It seems providers are prescribing it more lately and I'm not sure why. Anyhow, you will need to find a psychologist or licensed mental heath social worker for psychotherapy. Psychiatry has only been for medical management of mental health issues. I really think you can get through this, may take a little time, but you can do it. Best wishes to you.

I never tried that medication but I was put on so many different antidepressants and even an antipsychotic that made me so much worse. I couldn't eat or sleep. I'm no psycho so why would they do that?! I've learned you need to have more faith in yourself. YOU KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT FOR U❤️
