Extreme Anxiety

Hey everyone,

So my anxiety has been getting terrible lately. I get knots in my stomach and sometimes I throw up as a result of the anxiety. This leads me to calling in sick to work and staying home. I’ve connected my anxiety to work because once I call in sick I gradually feel so much better. Then it hits the night before or that morning. Have other people experienced this? How do you deal with it? I don’t even lift anymore and I’m barely sleeping anymore as well. Any advice or personal stories will help. Thank you!

I do have a therapist and I just started on medication. Sadly I live in the states so I have no health care coverage, meaning it’s been hard to afford services.

unfortunately it’s a messy system here. good luck.

oh, and use this forum for as much support as you can get in the meanwhile and beyond. Very thoughtful kind caring community of very thoughtful kind caring people with living and conquering (and conquered) their anxiety and depression complexities.

I've been there. Know what you mean. I worked in an office for a hospital and corporate side sucks. My anxiety was just horrible. My boss was a horrible person so that didn't help at all. Feel free to Direct Message me if you'd like to talk.

I went through this for awhile. I just pushed my way through like you mentioned. Once I got there I felt ok.

If you are not doing things that were routine at one point would you say you have a level of depression as well?

Definitely. I have been working out like I used to and haven’t found the motivation since this anxiety got so intense. Like everything is overwhelming. The thought of lifting makes me so anxious. if that makes sense.

It does make sense and losing your exercise may be increasing your symptoms.

You are making it to work as scheduled? Could you take a short walk after work? Get some exercise in?

I experienced a lot of anxiety going to and being at my job everyday, I had a boss who kept threatening to fire me and I would walk in shaking. If you have the option to change jobs while you're employed that might help. If its having a job in general that makes you anxious are there specific aspects that trigger you more than others?

I went through this with a job about 4 years ago. I started using OLLY stress, which I get form Walmart. They do work but I wish they were stronger. The director before me just drop the keys off in the middle of the night and just didn't come in any more. That should have been my first clue. Anyway, after careful thought I went over quitting with my husband and he agreed. I quit the next day. You may not be able to quit but I would start looking if I were you. That process of just "looking" gave me hope. I swore I would never put my self in that position again. My health isn't work jeopardizing for a job. My prayers are with you.

Usually Anxiety has that effect on people . I was and still am very much affected by it but what has helped me better deal with these kind of situations is analyzing what is the actual cause of this , is it the people that surround you or the work that you indulge in or is it the sheer demand upon you . Thinking on these kinds of things can help you understand what is the actual cause of these episodes . I think you should also consider doing things that you find fascinating , I know this can be a bit tricky but what i have noticed is doing things that one loves helps deal with anxiety in much better ways

hope it helps , hold on it will get better and we are with you

I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with anxiety lately. It's not uncommon for anxiety to manifest physically, and the stomach issues you're experiencing can be challenging. Many people can relate to the impact anxiety has on work and daily life. If you haven't already, consider reaching out to a mental health professional who can provide guidance and support tailored to your specific situation. Exploring coping mechanisms, such as mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, or even engaging in activities you enjoy, might help alleviate some of the symptoms.
