Diazepam Stomach Cramps

I’ve had numerous attempts at getting off Diazepam with sometimes a couple of years clean . Anyway this year I started taking them again. I had gone up to 40mg a day. I had considered that a low amount , one of my episodes I was taking a lot more than that.

At 40mg I started a very slow taper dropping down 1mg every two weeks. The general taper withdrawal symptoms I was used to as unpleasant as they were. Down to 7mg a day which is great but I’m suffering from very painful stomach cramps. A common withdrawal symptom but it’s making me question the validity of the taper.

It’s seems a no win situation as any cramp relieving drugs seem to be a bad combination.

My GP is no help just obsessed with getting me off diazepam then “ we “ can sort any other issues after. She even prescribed me Pregalabin / Lyrica. Can’t believe I didn’t check that first. It actually worked for a while stopping the cramps and I was feeling better but I soon stopped.

I’ve heard of lots of addicts taking Imodium /Loperamide to stop cramps havnt tried that but to me would be counterproductive making me constipated. Hi- Fibre diet appears to make it worse.

There must be something that can help ? Omeprazole maybe ?
