just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the Dare Response? I’ve downloaded the app and I’m thoroughly enjoying the free trial at the moment. Has anyone got any success stories from using this technique? And Is it worth buying the book alongside the app too?
Thanks

Yes, I found the DARE book and phone app very helpful and even signed up for their premium version of the app for a while. Their youtube channel is also very helpful and informative. Once I learned that anxiety is really a paradox and the more you struggle, fight or try to deny it the more it persists, the DARE approach made sense. The idea of daring the anxious feelings to happen and even get greater and staying with them and letting them happen and even daring them more, initially was scary but once I started doing it and repeating it - it works. The other important thing is to realize and affirm to yourself that the anxious thoughts are lies and to never believe them no matter how weird or scary they are. I started practicing simple mindfulness meditation to be able to learn to sit with the uncomfortable thoughts and even feelings and just allow my thoughts to float in and out like clouds without ataching to them or reacting to them. It takes time but it works.
Barry's program was influenced by Dr. Claire Weekes who has some good books as well as youtube videos. I found the DARE program to be simpler and more practical.
I also found medication helpful temporarily, mine was klonopin, which helped dial down my anxiety/panic some so I could heal but some people don't need it. There are also physical issues that can cause or contribute to anxiety/panic so it's important to make sure your hormones, thyroid and adrenals are balanced.
