Insomnia for over a month
I have weeks where I have insomnia. I'm on a low dose of zyprexa at night and it's helping me. I've also been prescribed lunesta for sleep. I can't take ssris or ssni antidepressants cuz they give me bad insomnia.
Hi DB
I had insomnia for years & after I had a hallucination, I finally got to see mental health team & told them every thing & they put me on Promethazine Hydrochloride, which didn't really do the trick but then they gave me Mirtazapine as well & now I'm getting back up toward 4 hours.
The thing is with drugs I was given didn't work straight away, it took almost a month for them to work properly.
I spent my youth & a majority of my working life managing happily on 4 hours no problems.
I hope U get ur sleep groove on.
Lastly
I wish U love & light on ur journey.
Temazepam/Restoril worked well for my severe insomnia. (Off to sleep, 30 mins after taking it.) However, it is a a benzodiazepine - only good for short term, due to addictive properties.
I have been taking zopiclone for a few years now, and don't have any issues with it at all, they say it is only short term, but for me it works well every night, without it I wouldn't sleep at all.
I have learned to embrace it. Before I would hate it and try to force myself to sleep. But that only kept me awake because I would get frustrated that I wasn't falling asleep. Frustration would lead to stress. I became more unable to fall asleep. I used to be on Ambien and later on got put on Lumina or Lumia I forget the name. Couldn't stay on it though because of side effects (metal mouth taste; horrible). Later on I got put on Trazodone. Sure it makes me drowsy and I fall asleep for about 2hrs then I'm up again.
Now I just meditate. Tell myself to relax, if sleep comes that's great. If it doesn't, that's okay too. I'll catch up on some books I have been putting off. Or I work on my bullet journal. Then when I feel tired, I lie down and go to bed. I don't try to force sleep anymore. I just put in my soundcoré ear buds A10 that are designed for sleeping and listen to relaxing music.
Wish you get some sleep 😴 even if it's a little bit 🫂❤️
