How do you deal with all the stress of college. They give so many small assignments and it’s so hard to keep track of my assignments because so far I’m not doing well.

It's definitely overwhelming, especially since we're already approaching midterm season. For me I have a physical calendar that's right in front of me when I sit at my desk, I write down all the major assignments or weekly ones on it. Sticky notes are all over my desk and on my laptop to remind me of things I need to complete too.

For the smaller assignments, I just try and knock them out as soon as I can. Either between classes or as the first one before other homework. Setting alarms at certain intervals to remind me of some kinda help. And constantly checking canvas, but I think that's just anxiety.

I think it helps to assess which ones can be procrastinated on and which ones need immediate attention. Like I have some short essays due by the next class, so a day or two to complete them, while other classes have a semester long project due in chunks (two week intervals). Keeping you assignment tab(s) open can help act as a reminder as well.

I wish you luck and hope your work load eases soon.

Hi Life -

College is like that, and I think most students feel the way you do. It's just hectic, and accepting that it is that way will help. I remember finishing college and feeling weird about not feeling a little stressed all the time.

I think one of the best things you can do is get a calendar - not on your phone. Too many distractions there. Get a paper notebook calendar and make it your friend. Writing everything down will help free your mind, and alleviate stress. It will help keep you organized and on task. I went from being a very poor student to a very good student and organization is key (not my strong suit at all).

Also, take a mindfulness moment and just put it all down, and focus on your breath. Put it all down and just focus on your breath. Do this several times a day.

You can only do your best. That's it.

And, be mindful of how you are spending time. It is so easy to waste a half hour on Instagram, and that could be spent doing homework, or doing some stress-relieving activity, like exercise or talking to a friend.

Work hard, and take really good care of yourself. The second is most important.

You got this.
