Need to stay positive
i know how hard it can be to stay positive during difficult times. something i did was write down things that i am grateful for and read over them. i also wrote down some positive affirmations to say out loud. for example: you are not alone, you are loved, this feeling will pass, everything is okay
I had same issue. Then, like you I realized I really wanted to change things up.. So I would always make the conversation casual and positive. Always asked how other person is doing and let them express themselves and I worked hard at not making it about me if they share something I related to. I just kept readjusting myself to be positive and not talk so much. It’s been years. Could you believe now is second nature. I don’t overshare and my conversations are for the most part positive when I see negativity creeping back in I immediately start the process again and improve. It takes time, work and self control. Also writing it down daily - all negative thoughts - helps alleviate things. Hope some of these suggestions help.
