Weird breathless feelings when falling asleep

Hi all, for the past few nights when I'm drifting of to sleep it's like I almost forget to breath and then jolt back up and my heart is racing it's very odd. Eating to close to laying down wouldn't cause this would it? I have been a bit anxious as on Monday I had a sharp pain in the left side of my chest up toward my shoulder, it lasted a few mins but the pain got worse if I moved in a certain direction or twisted. Obviously this set me of thinking I had something wrong with my heart.

It's a never ending battle

If there is not physical condition, I suffer from this due to anxiety. If I awake even slightly I am jolted out of bed feeling tightness in my chest. I've been evaluated by a cardiologist and did have to add more salt to my diet, but really had no issues. This tends to happen though because I have PTSD. Just sharing the non physical reaction of what could be happening....especially if you are having a tough time or something is really distracting your brain. I wish you the best!
