Can living with anxiety be exhausting?
Welcome to the community! We are here to listen and support you.
When I constantly feel on edge and restless, I sometimes exercise to get rid of that extra energy, try entertaining (distracting) myself with a movie, or dance with friends. If I need to accomplish something mentally challenging, I try to meditate to relieve my anxiety and to concentrate on a complex project. Or I might try "Paced Breathing."
Paced Breathing: Sit down and take deep breaths. Try to get your mind off where you are now and to a more pleasant place that relaxes you. If you can keep your mind on your breath, try counting your breaths in and out, going very slowly. Pace your breathing by slowing it down.
1) Breathe deeply into your belly.
2) Slow your pace of inhaling and exhaling way down (i.e., five to six breaths per minute.)
3) Breathe out more slowly than you breathe (i.e., five seconds in & seven seconds out.)
Do any of these ideas sound like possible alternatives to the roller coaster ride?
Here is a meditation from another member I thought might benefit you:
It definitely can be exhausting. It’s like having to constantly fight to get some happiness, contentment or enjoyment. That’s why it’s important to try and find things that bring you some enjoyment, motivate you and interest you. I think some folks use meditation to relax and re-energize ( I haven’t explored this a lot myself - yet).
Hope you find rest and abundant energy 😀
