CBT wasn't good for me

I Went on a course of CBT. There were 15 of us the first week, that gradually went down each week until there was only me and then I left. For me CBT was a complete waste of time. Almost childish in the way it was presented. Also, or can't be tailored to your particular requirements. That's just me though. Other people may have gotten a lot from it. Good luck. Rob

Hi rob have you just started this group as its the first time ive noticed your name on here ! I noticed on your profile you take venlafaxine what strength and how much daily ive been taking it for some time i take 225mg at night the a lower dose in the morning ! I was curious as to how long and did you have any problems ! Cbt is not for everyone i didnt get that so sounds like i escaped whoopie ! I wish you well hope to hear from you again all the best !

Hi Celtic. I take 300mg per day. I'm pretty sure it helps. I also take pregabalin which I'm sure helps. On top of that, i get 12 x 2mg of clonazipam which, when i have a bad session is a life saver. My anxiety comes and goes. For the last few months it's been under control but when it comes back its brutal. CBT was awful for me but I wouldn't want to put anyone off as it may work for others. What type of problems do you face? This group really helps when things get bad. I really hope things go well for you. Feel free to chat anytime

CBT didn’t work for me either. I’ve had more positive results with EMDR. My therapist has used it some and I hope to be able to do more. There’s a book called Getting Past Your Past that is written by the person who came up with it 20? years ago. It’s available through the e library. I’ve got a lot of stuff to work on but this has helped me more than anything else so far. Hope you find something that helps.
