Overcoming my health anxiety

I've been pushing myself lately to just try and eat and just wait it out to see if I have a allergic reaction...it's hell living like this. Everything seems foreign to my body because of how long I've went without eating lots of things,so I'm re introducing alot to myself again. And I know my body will probably react to things at first, and it sets off my anxiety thinking something is wrong and I need to bee seen. I'm trying my best to do this on my own, without meds. No one has to respond..I just wanted to vent and throw that out there.

Sorry you’re going through this. It must be quite scary. Do you keep a food diary?

Yes...I track every little thing I eat and drink, the date and time and how much I feel nuts 😔

It all started after having an allergic reaction to a medicine for my allergies back in September, ever since I'm obsessedly thinking I'm going to be allergic to everything

I suffered a similar incident. Mine was side effects from a thyroid medication. Now I fear all medications and I'm a pain in the rear to the pharmacist at Walgreens 😂 I ask about everything! Will this go well with my other meds? What time should I take them? What should I look for etc. Reality is it was just a one off. I suffered a bad reaction but that doesn't mean I'm going to get that from everything. In fact before that incident I handled medication fairly well and still. I remind myself of that fact when I have to take a pain pill because my knee hurts or because of a cramp. I'm not going to have a reaction. I've taken this before and I will be fine, is what I tell myself. If something were to happen, I have resources. I can call emergency services. But I won't need them because I've taken Tylenol before and I was fine then and I'll be fine now.

Same with food. You ate this before and you were fine then and chances are you will be fine after.

You are safe within your body ❤️

Anyways I wish you the best of luck on overcoming your health anxiety. I know it can be a pain 🫂

I convince myself in my mind about how I've had this or that before and I will be fine.. and if I need to I can always call 911 immediately if something does go out.. it's just I overthink it and go nuts after I eat anything

Yeah the thought spiral out of control. Been there...it sucks. Sometimes when I get that way I tend to challenge my intrusive thoughts with humor and logic.

I also had anxiety over eating and didn't want to eat anything. I knew I had to, so I tried small simple meals like a cup of soup or yogurt. Eventually the food anxiety lessened. Give it a try and be patient. You might even try baby food or protein shakes.

I just kind of force myself to eat it and then wait and see how it goes... It's the only way I think I'm going to get through this

Good for you. Keep going, it will get easier over time.

Thank you. I'm really trying.. I just try to distract myself after I eat so I try not to overthink it but I seem to end up back thinking about it

Can you find something to do after eating that would help distract you? Do you have coping strategies to help take your mind off your worries and anxiety? I read or take a walk or do a crossword or crochet. I'm teaching myself, so I really have to concentrate on it. Find what works for you.
