I had ect years ago. My immediate result was calming but my memory & understanding was bad. Today, I still have memory issues. Anyone else have this experience. And I still have depression.

I know others that have had memory issues with ECT. I personally would not do it . TMS(transcranial magnetic stimulation) really worked for me; became treatment resistant to meds after being on them for decades.

I am also treatment resistant. It sure is frustrating. The memory issues you mention were they only right after ect or years after? I feel so alone in this.

In some they're temporary, in others they're long lasting. As I said, TMS has been my lifesaver. The results of my last round so far have lasted just over a year. BTW, it's a noninvasive treatment.

I’m glad I came across your post re. Your experiences with ECT and TMS.

I’m due to start ECT next month but I’m unsure and nervous but feel I need to try something new. I queried trying TMS with my consultant but he didn’t seem a fan.

Can I ask how many sessions of ECT you had? & was memory loss the main side affect.
