hello everyone.

I did a post a few weeks ago regarding fillings and how I felt after I had local anaesthetic without adrenaline ( felt confused, exhausted and strange )

I’m In Manchester UK and am just wondering how do root canals feel ? Also so they do it all on the same day ?

Am seeing a nurse practitioner on Friday as I think am extremely sensitive too anaesthetic and it makes me feel out of it scary feeling.

anyone in the Uk please help and advice me as I have a leaked filling for the past few months and I know it needs doing but am sick of no one believing me when I say how confused I get after anaesthetic

Thanks

hi . How long was the first appointment? My concern is the way o feel after anaesthetic? Such a scary feeling didn’t like it at all . This is the one without adrenaline.

Not very long 20 - 30 minutes ?Do you mean local anesthetic by injection at the site of the tooth ?

yes he used numbing cream then injected with anaesthetic. Just didn’t feel right and actually slept so well that night 🤭. Scary feeling felt like I was drunk , disoriented, did feel faint but managed to shake it off . Was scared when I get home couldn’t relax at all . Didn’t feel poorly no fever or anything . That’s why am seeing the nurse on Friday as she thinks am sensitive and it could if caused the feelings .

Right so hopefully the nurse can advise maybe prescribe something to calm down the adrenalin Sounds like you are in good hands just keep breathing deeply I think you'll be fine

I had a root canal and implant. Neither were painful. I was not put to sleep. I don’t even think they do that anymore. The implant was much more annoying. In both cases they sent me home with pain killers. I took one, went to sleep and was fine. No real pain at all.

You could bring headphones. I don’t think you face much noise but they might help relax you. It isn’t like going under.

hi . No I won’t be out asleep. Am sensitive too medication and had anaesthetic without adrenaline and still felt strange , the fatigue was scary like falling in and out of sleep. I feel like no one believes me though but I just didn’t feel right at all .!

I’m sensitive too. I always make sure to tell them that. They can administer a little at a time until you are numb.

that’s what he did but still felt so strange and scary after it.

I have been reading about adrenaline and maybe I made too much and it made me unwell .

there’s no way I can answer that. The anesthesiologist is trained to understand how medicine acts on the body. That’s the person to ask.

I don't live in the UK, (I live in the USA) but I've had several root canals done. I am dental phobic and I was VERY scared to have my first one done. I elected to have local anesthetic, and I brought some earphones with me and played my music while it was being done. It wasn't as bad as I had feared. In my case I had to go back to have the permanent crown put on.
