How does everyone keep themselves happy during the tough times? I gained weight over the winter (many medication changes, emotional eating etc) and I am working on loosing weight. I have already lost 7 pounds and it’s been a little over a month. I am happy about that but my family won’t be happy until I am at a weight they think is okay. They want to help me loose weight and I’m very thankful for the help but it’s all we ever talk about. It makes me hate myself for letting this happen and I don’t know how to be happy again.

Being happy with who you are
I've found people are very quick to judge others, it's easier than judging themselves. I've had a similar problem, people thinking it's fine to talk about my appearance and make jokes about it. Well done for losing the weight.
thank you. And yeah they are trying to help which is nice but constantly talking about it, texts and in person conversations, calorie counting and constantly telling me to workout isn’t helpful. It’s just upsetting that it’s all my family is obsessed with at the moment
Have you told them that it's upsetting you?
no… I feel guilty saying that because they will come back with something like “we are just trying to help you”. They are very good at making other people feel guilty/bad if you say or do something they don’t like or wouldn’t do
I would word it as "I know you're trying to help, but your words of encouragement are having the opposite effect" especially as you are doing well at losing the weight.
that sounds really good like that. Thank you. I truly appreciate it
Your welcome, good luck. Let us know how it goes.
