Let's Understand Today's Society?

We have discussed generational differences but how society perceives us has a direct bearing on how we progress and improve our individual conditions. It's time now to put yourself absolutely first in our struggles. Mental illness has been stigmatized. As a matter of fact most people have no idea what we struggle with on a daily basis. So how can they possibly understand. I dear say most medical professionals are in the same group. They really just don't know. The answer seems to be experimental drug regimes! And we are the recipient "guinea pigs ". I recently had a drug reaction that could have killed me! Fortunately I was able to find out about the interactions myself and sought help elsewhere. It is time for us all to consider the most important person in our lives today is ourselves. Learn to say every day "if I am to succeed it is all up to me". I'm not saying this is an easy thing to do but has it been easy so far? Share positive thought with peers. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty about your condition because it makes them uncomfortable. Don't hide yourself away. If you are reclusive take small steps in comfortable surroundings. And last but not the least find someone who is honest and you are comfortable with to share those inner feelings. That's called true support. It does miracles! I'm here to attest to that. I have travelled this long road with you. I have improved greatly. Now I just want to share. God bless you all.

ps for all of us alone on Valentine's Day I say this Feb. 14th send a message and we will all wish each other a most "HAPPY VALENTINES DAY" .You are not alone and I love you all!

Taking our control back is so important. Some of us need medications but we also have to be advocates for ourselves.

It is all up to us. No one else can do this work. It's a tough road but we can conquer so much of this if we push through the pain and find our light

Supportive and understanding people around us is a big piece to the healing process. Fortunately we have this site of people that understand the battle. We are all in different stages of recovery and we can help each other. Loving kindness and a supportive ear go a long way

I agree. We are the guinea pigs. Sometimes doctors are quick to prescribe drugs to alleviate symptoms rather than trying to understand and treat the root cause. Sometimes all we can do is accept uncomfortable feelings and learn how to sit with them and deal with them in our own way. True support as you say is so important, its light in the darkness, it can uplift you and relieve you more than anything. We can get through this, its up to us. Thank you for your message
