I'm so sorry, Kelkel that you are going through that. What has been effective in the past to help calm you? Can you sit with them and tear them apart as to why they are not the "real deal" and are only there to scare you? Do you have coping mechanisms you can do, or someone to engage you in conversation with to help take your mind off things? Perhaps putting on some music, drinking some tea, watching a show you like, or even taking a shower can switch up what's going through your mind.

Mornings are bad for me as well. Have many affirmations posted on my frig and can’t even look at them in the a.m! I usually tell them to f*** off. But, by the end of the day, all is better with my world and I love reading everything on the frig before I go to sleep.

Ever seen the movie 50 First Dates? (Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler) It’s kind of like that in a lesser way. It’s as if my brain reboots every night, only to have to start from the beginning again every single morning. (With anxiety, rumination, etc)

Not sure why this is. I don’t wake up in a bad mood per se, I just feel anxious and my attitude is not what it should be. I get there somehow throughout the day, just can’t wake up in a good head space.

Completely with you on this👍❤️

Yes, you describe it so well. It’s exhausting over and over every morning.

Makes me feel so utterly worthless. And I just hate that thought!

Think this might be a good question for Psy doc, or perhaps a sleep specialist!

I also wake up with a feeling of doom. In a book I read called "Widow," the writer was advised to first move your body. If I can make myself get up and go outside for a moment, just to get the newspaper or look at the sky or the trees, it makes life look much less hopeless. Don't lie in bed. Get up & move your body. Sending e-hugs.

Thanks for that bit of advice!

I'm wondering if this might help? Here's a post I did last year on controlling ruminations/unwanted thought.

hi Norw, just read your post from a year ago on Rumination. These words of yours so eloquently describe the very hole of rumination that I currently live in …

“By ruminating, we’re trying to think our way out of a problem. Either that, or we are trying to come up with a solution that makes sense to us/ a solution we can live with. The ironic thing is that we spend so much time trying to find a solution that things just end of getting more and more muddled and we can’t find a solution. We end up frustrating ourselves to no end. Ruminating is like quicksand. Once we start ruminating, it quickly gets more difficult to snap out of it and into another frame of mind.” …

This is exactly what I’m stuck in. It’s a terrible and debilitating place to live. I will work on this “monster” with the suggestions you have provided in your post. It’s a tough nut to crack. Like you said, it’s like Quicksand.

You’ve addressed this issue and solutions in a way that speaks to me much better than a therapist or Psychiatrist has ever been able to do.

Appreciate you always.🙏❤️

If you wake up feeling this way, could it be from a bad, unpleasant, weird, dream?

No, I don’t really ever dream. I don’t think I’m ever getting that deep of sleep, unfortunately.

From what I've read, we all dream, but some people don't remember them (that you don't remember your dreams, I don't believe is a problem). For me, I would often wake up in a panic. The reason I ask about if you have unpleasant dreams-there is an Rx that has helped me a lot. That you're not getting deep, restful sleep, now that's a problem I know too well. Not enough quantity/quality sleep makes every little negative thing that happens in my day a much bigger deal.

(I'm worried that I'm coming off as someone who believes in using/taking a lot of Rx. I don't, but I've struggled for so long and I don't want to go back to where I was. It's taken me a long time to figure out what works for me. But even with all this, I still struggle).

I hope that some of the other replies help you. I'll check on them as well.

Peace to you (Especially Peace of mind).
