TMS therapy

Have you heard of it? It’s fairly new. It a machine that taps the part of the brain that has a part to do with suffering from metal health. If nerves in your brain don't perform correctly, this can interfere with the production and release of neurotransmitters (brain chemicals). Neurotransmitters help regulate stress and mood. Transcranial magnetic stimulation helps “reset” the brain's electrical system.

This therapy is over a number of weeks long. It has some success for people who have had no help from medication for depression, around 30-60 %, but unfortunately the cost of 400-500 a session and around 15,000 for the series... limits many who can't afford it.

I've spent $7700 ($150 per appointment for 47 sessions and 2 Ketamine infusions) out of pocket expense this year during the original 8 weeks in Feb-april of 36 appointments and 3 weeks of 11 more sessions in September as I was triggered back into depression by health issues....I'm 48 and this is the ONLY treatment for depression anxiety and motivation that has ever helped me with my mental health struggles. If you go to my profile, I posted my experience with TMS and Ketamine infusions around Nov 3, 2022.

I cannot stress enough how this therapy has saved my life. I would NOT be here today without it. No question....

This is the clinic website that I go to. It has a full description of treatment options and explaination of how they work.

Please ask me ANYTHING!! I want to help as many people understand how this treatment works. It has saved my life without a doubt. I will help you with anything if I can ❣️

TMS has been around for at least 12 years. For me it was literally a lifesaver. I became treatment resistant to meds after being on them for decades and thankfully my therapist recommended it to me. Had my 3rd round last year and am still doing well. I was fortunate that my insurance(Medicare) covered it all. I highly recommend others try it if they are able.

I am sorry to report I did not respond to TMS Therapy and it cost me $15,000 dollars. I have had better luck with Ketamine IV Infusions.

do you know why you didn’t respond? Thank you I’ll look into ketamine

Everyone responds to various treatments differently. What works for some may not work for others, just like with any medication.

I completed all the TMS treatments. I don't know why I didn't respond. My Depression seems to be incurable. I have tried everything over 30 years. My Psychiatrist suggested Electric Shock Treatment but I that's were I draw the line. I'm in a tough situation.

That’s my worst fear paying for something and it’s not working! Eclectic shock sounds scary.

Remember there’s not really a cure for mental illness but there are things to help. Maybe art therapy or animal therapy.

There is a new TMS treatment called saint. It's better at targeting and can show relief in one session. 60 Minutes did a piece on it. It's on YouTube I think. It's not available very many places yet. But it looks promising. TMS was too time consuming and costly for me to try and the ketamine infusions are done the same way here. You have to go for like a month and it's not covered by insurance.
