A stressful well

This week has been stressful, as stated by the title of this post. I work a job that requires me to spend long days with a wide range of student as an outdoor educator. I've found it to be such a fun and amazing time, more often than not.

However, I have reached my boiling point. For the first time in my life, a person (a student to be specific) made a disgusting, vindictive racist comment toward me. As a person of color, I have gone a long 24 years without facing racism as directly as I had just now.

I don't care if the comment came from a student or an adult, a vindictive racist comment in a strong form of weapon. And I learned that my heart could be hurt in away I had never encounter before.

Dot, I'm so sorry you experienced this pain from one of your students. People don't

realize that "words can be like knives that cut you open". I am sorry for the ignorance

of this student. In nearing 2023, when are we going to learn that we are all human and

deserve the respect of one another no matter what color, age or ethnicity. Respect of

one another must begin at home. xx
