Let me help you because I can't help myself

I'm incredibly anxious right now. It's not because of anything really extreme but I can't make it go away. I just said this to someone else and need my own advice ha.

If you're having a hard time let me know because I have the capacity to be there for others more than myself. I'd love to make you feel better, send encouragement, or talk about your struggles to forget my own for a minute. Being kind to strangers is incredibly powerful at times.

I'm new here and don't have many connections yet but tell me what's been on your mind.

I'm here for you and I care about you.

I love your screen name. I took in my Grandma’s dog. Her name is Foxy Lady and I often call her Fox Trot so whenever I see your name it makes me think of her. Lol

Thanks it's a lot rolled into a small thing.Foxtrot is military for F. Secretly means fuck to me as in "fuck my life"

Also faux like fake, as in I'm a fraud.

And finally foxes are my favorite animal. My name is bipolar haha

Your name is very creative. ☺️ Makes me wish I would have come up with something better. 😉

Ok, here goes: l'm a bit worried because there is a strong possibility l may have to face serious surgery soon. It's very kind of you offering to be there for others when you are suffering yourself.

I've had some pretty serious surgeries myself.Focus on being healthy it's incredible what a body can heal from. When I'm worried it won't go well I look at all the times people should not be ok and somehow managed to pull through. Medicine is a modern day miracle. Do whatever is in your power to prepare and let your body handle the rest. Last surgery I had was pretty traumatic and my brother in law happens to be an anesthesiologist. He told me about a medication they can give you that essentially makes you forget the experience. I don't want to push a medication but if you're truly worried ask your doctor about it. Worked like a charm for me. I remember very little of an traumatic surgery and ignorance is bliss

It’s easier to be nice to others than to ourselves. Something I we need to work on also

That's a perfect beautiful way to explain anxiety. Tripping and falling but the impact never comes.I don't know much about agoraphobia even though I probably have my moments. How does it make you feel? It must be pretty scary

You given me great inspiration and pulled me out of my shell and I’ve only been here 3 days. We sound a lot alike. I’m terrible at taking my own advice. Kind of makes me feel like a hypocrite. We just need a little push from others to get out of our heads for a minute. When you talked about running,, I was I inspired. When you talked about embarrassment, I was inspired. You inspire others with your gift of helping and listening. Lean into that. You’re a natural. You have all the right answers, you just need a push to reach them. I’m pushing you! ❤️🙏

I feel like I have a lot of tools to help but I just can't help myself. I can't seem to take my own advice like I know what needs to be done but I can't take the first step.Helping others is always easier and I'm starting to feeling better already because of all of you.

Thanks for your kind words I just found this group and it's better than I could have imagined

in reply to FauxxTrot

Being here with you all is such a beautiful thing. However, you’re just like me. You have the knowledge and tools to make yourself better, you’re just bad at acting on your own advice. Story of my life. Let’s make a deal: Everytime we give advice to others, let’s take a break from this forum and actually do one actionable thing about our situation. Even if it’s just for a short time. I need a buddy in this and will commit to this if you will. Let’s be partners in crime and solve this crap while we still can! I’m with you!!

in other words, hold me accountable and I’ll do the same for you!

That's a good idea. I fed myself haha that was my action. I was forgetting to eat because I was anxious and started getting shaky. It may have been Mac and cheese but at least it's something to get started. I agree and accountability buddy would be nice thanks. I'm going to go for a walk before it gets dark in like an hour.😊

One more thing … then I’m actually going to do something productive as I promised FauxxTrot I would do. Talk is cheap. I need action. My mind is forever engrained with words like yoga, meditation, self awareness, forgiveness, exercise, etc etc etc. I’m so tired of hearing these words because I already have them memorized forever in my brain. Action is what I (we) need help with. Baby steps are great … as long as you know how to take that first step. Hate to sound cynical and really appreciate everyone here. Just need a bit “deeper” understanding of the inability to act. I’m one of those weird people who has to know the “why” of everything before it can be accepted. Thank so much!

It's true though it's sometimes harder to take our own suggestions.

Beautiful of a thing for you to do. I just found myself in the present moment and good space after an entire day of major struggle… just like that I found my way in the tall grass… just wanted to share that as a reminder that you never know when your day or life will make a huge turn around.

Thanks you're right 😊I need to go for a walk. I do appreciate the little things

Loved your quote on “an act of defiance in anxiety’s evils face.” That is music to my ears because I feel exactly the same way. Agoraphobia is a mean cruel bitch. If that one problem is not solved then others tools cannot even be considered as actionable options to try. Wish there was more help on Agoraphobia. I completely feel you! Always here 🙏

Love your post, i'm getting much better but I use to feel a whole hell of a lot more comfortable giving advice than receiving it and especially applying it to myself. Sure does feel better and healthier now to have the awareness and be able to do both.

what a perfect statement “act of defiance” thank you for that!

You’re doing great FauxxTrot just by having the courage to say I’m sitting in anxiety and don’t even know why at the moment. Can relate with you. Sending hugs.

That is very noble of you, but experience tells me that in times such as this we need to be very careful, because in such a short period of time we are in danger of taking on the problems of others to the extreme of making our problems much greater than they really are, plus the very people you are hoping to help will take your problems on board making their problems much harder. You appear to have a 'NEED TO BE NEEDED' this is a very dangerous need. Much better that you say here more of what is really on your mind, let us help you through your times of trauma, clear your own clutter and be free to then help others. There is an old adage, Physician, Heal Thyself! We are here for YOU.

Thanks I agree with you. I was alone yesterday on my day off and was worrying about work. I have a tendency to future dread especially work and catastropize things that haven't occurred yet. So sometimes thinking about other things is a good distraction. I feel productive helping others for an hour or so at a time but did sign off for the night when I wasn't focused on tomorrow anymore

well done It is also good to get to know what ones' own body and mind is telling us. Self knowledge is a great asset. xx

Thank you.

So I have had anxiety and depression for many years now. I take medication to control them so that I can function. I had been doing good then this past weekend life just got turned upside down and now I feel out of control. I had an health issue with my mother but all is good now but I think this has triggered my issues again. I am trying to stay strong and get back to feeling good but I feel like I am spiraling out of control. Why do I always go to the negative thoughts? It makes all the bad from the depression and anxiety come back to light. It takes all I have to get up and go to work. I get the blah feeling, appetite is leaving, want to cry all the time, headache, just like I can't do this anymore feelings. Any words of hope and wisdom that this will get better would be apprecaited.

are you sure your not like my twin cause i feel the exact way you do..not that im one to say but we both need to start caring more about ourselves instead of always thinking of others its not healthy but like i said im just being a hypocrite lol

Yeah I could use a little more self love and I don't give myself the grace I give others. Sometimes I hope practicing and showing others the care I deserve will show in turn teach me to do it for myself
