Does CBT work for depression? What other types of therapy that helped you?
hi and welcome to this community! I find CBT to be a big help.
Not just for depression. Life skills in general. You should think 360 though. Food, exercise, mindfulness, relationships all matter when it comes to depression.
I found CBT helpful especially for learning to be more aware of my thoughts, question them and reframe them. I also found ACT therapy very helpful for learning to investigate my feelings and thoughts and how to accept them in order to heal. One of the best things you can do is be willing to uncover what thoughts and beliefs you are telling yourself subconsciously so you can decide which ones still fit for you and get rid of the ones that no longer serve you. There is a lot of info youtube about this and I like the book "Drive your own darn bus" by Julia Kristina. I also found Somatic Therapy very helpful for dealing with stored emotions in the body.
