Hi Mileyattention,
I understand your feelings because I experienced them so often. And I'm pretty sure many people here can say the same.
Even a minor problem can make me feel as if the world has collapsed. And I blame myself for all that has gone wrong with the conclusion I fail at everything I do, I will never succeed at anything and I am myself a failure.
My therapist says I should not feel guilty for the past, but focus my attention on how to fix the problem. Easier said than done, unfortunately.
At the very least I can say you are not alone. And you are very welcome to share your problems here. Sometimes, simply writing about what bothers us creates some distance and makes things more manageable.
I forgot to mention, upward comparisons are toxic for people with low self-esteem like us. This is especially true when comparing ourselves with the idealized personality depicted in social networks.
My personal nemesis is LinkedIn. But I read Twitter and Instagram makes ravage among young people.
If social media upsets you dont use it!
Hi Miley, You should relax, you're 22. Okay, for starters try, try not to compare yourself to others. You never know what is really going on with others, people only put out their best version of themselves and their lives. It's not real. You are just getting started. Your 20's should be fabulous, be present in your life and have fun.
