Direct switch from celexa to zoloft.

I've been on celexa foryears and it used to work pretty well, but recently I've had a lot of break through panic attacks. My doc (family med doc) wants me to switch from celexa 40mg to zoloft 100mg. He said no need to taper, just stop celexa and start zoloft. Has anyone switched SSRI's in this manner? Any effects I should be concerned about?

I have switched SSRIs many times before getting my BP1 diagnosis. I can’t believe they told you to quit Celexa cold turkey. I did that once from Celexa to Wellbutrin and I got so many of those brain zap thingys that I couldn’t stand up without the room spinning. I would ask about tapering off. Not a doc but I hope this helps.

My doctor had me swap from 40MG celexa to 150MG twice per day of Wellbutrin. They told me to wait 48 hours off of the celexa then start on the Wellbutrin. It tore my stomach up. I found about 1 week into it, i would take lile 1/4 of a celexa to see if that helped (they said the stomach issues were due to seretonin receptors in the stomach), & it did. So, when it got intolerable, i was able to take a small bit of celexa & feel much better. I took a little piece of celexa every few days, less & less of a pill that i broke into pieces, until i eventually didn't need to do that anymore (a few weeks max, taking less & less of ths celexa). I never had any other side effects, or withdrawal symptoms. I was on celexa for 13 years before changing, FWIW.
