Hello,

I am asking this on behalf of my 82 year old mother. (I hold a health and welfare LPA)

She has taken a high dose of Amitriptaline for many years and has coped well.

The Amitriptaline she took for years was a slow release tablet.

A while back, she was told that the slow release tablet had been discontinued.

It does work very well for her, but leaves her drowsy and confused until about midday the following day, despite taking it early evening. She did not have this with the slow release dose.

So my question is, is anyone aware of a slow release version of the Amitriptaline tablet still being available. I wonder whether it was a cost saving idea to stop prescribing them.

Thank you for reading

Kind regards.
