Added extra dose of Effexor & Busprione, but felt WORSE!

I have had bouts with anxiety for over 30 years, mostly mild. 15 years ago I had severe anxiety due to a stressful time in my life. Now again, I am going through terribly severe anxiety. Have been on Effexor 150mg & my doctor prescribed a higher dose of Effexor and adding buspirone. I felt absolutely horrible once I started taking the new meds. I felt terrible doom upon waking. The doctor said to stop taking the new meds. On the buspirone I felt like I was out of my body, not myself. What meds have you all used that actually helped you?

have you ever tried welbutrone as an add on during a rise in your symptoms?

The only med that directly helped my anxiety was Klonopin which is a benzo that drs. don't like prescribing for longterm use because it supposedly can be habit forming. I had no issues with it or side affects and when I quit it I tapered off slowly without any problems.

Sedonalover, I have had a few different people in my circle have Abilify added to boost the quality of the effects of the main medication for their various mental health symptoms. It won’t hurt to do a bit of reach on it or others that are good for that sort of thing. Also, have you had a genetic chemistry test done to get a better understanding of what kinds of medications would best work explicitly for you and your body chemistry? You can try to get one done in the near future if you haven’t. They are sometimes covered by insurance if you are lucky, but I think that it’s a bit of an expense otherwise. I’m sorry you’re having trouble with getting relief, and that your son is going through his own life’s difficulties. I have had to let go of the stressful things that happen in my son’s life that are not really things I have control over. I have told him on many occasions that I will be there for him and help support, love, and protect him from everything that I can, but that I don’t have the ability to protect him from himself. You are still a good mother to your son even though you don’t have any way to change anything that is his own doing as a consequence of his choices. He is meant to have these experiences in his life right now, and that he’s going to know that he can come to you for comfort whenever he’s in need of it. I hope that it’s going to be brief period in your journeys as mother and son.
