I am a 21year old woman and am new here with chronic chest pain for years now. I have done all tests and nothing came out. then I checked with a psychiatrist so she told me it might be a result of stress I've had for years. Imagine being depressed coz of pain caused by stress and depression again. The pain has ruined my youth years.

long term chronic stress
KellyAndersen,
Hello! I totally understand. I’m around your age and I have had a lot of tests. It’s a major disappointment. For me, it’s been gastrointestinal issues. So, I’ve had a gallbladder test, EGD, colonoscopy, and blood tests that all came back as clear. It’s basically just from anxiety, depression, ADHD, and like genetics or childhood adverse experiences. Now, I feel a little bit better not eating gluten and dairy. But, I still have a lot of aches and pains for someone my age, like joint pain and headaches. I just feel defeated sometimes because I feel like I can’t do anything to get rid of “stress”. Like I am unfixable. Physically, I feel like I’m sick/feeling bad most of the time or just weak. And that’s just how it’s been for years.
Anyways, because of the stress manifesting physically… that’s also why when I’m super depressed, I try to force myself to eat or brush my teeth and stuff like that to avoid more major health issues from neglect. I don’t exercise or move or get sunshine as much. I do take vitamins!
I think I relate. I don’t have much positive things to say. I’m grateful I don’t have an autoimmune disease… but, I did want a diagnosis to affirm my pain and give me a treatment. I want to do my best to take care of my body. And it’s just trying each day to go from there.
