I feel so depressed today
hi maybe you coming off them caused you some side effects but that should pass in a week or so.try not label yourself as a lifetime depressant just do the right things to get you in a better place and move forward.
Situational depression is usually not lifetime. But regardless of the type or cause it is critical to learn how self care and resilience techniques and understand if something is going on. Meds help to a degree but it is diet, exercise, therapy, mindfulness and connection that all help you learn to take care when things go south. I still get depressed from time to time. I have learned ways to deal with it before it goes too far and that varies. Last year it was indeed a med but I am off now and taking different steps.

*Just throwing something out on the table before your psych visit*
Maybe being "completely off meds" may not be the right time for you yet.
Is there a possibility that you and your psych can work together to stay at your current dosage, until you feel better, and then (eventually) ween down to a lower level?
.
I'm not a medical professional, and you know your body better than anyone else.
But I have been on the med merry go round, and know all too well from first hand experience what it is like to go up and down on meds.
Everybody's experience with meds is definitely different, but (for me) I needed to taper down slowly. (but again, that's just me and everybody is different)
Either way, I hope that everything works out with you, and you and your psych have a good upcoming visit.
I find walking in the woods helps me. Not just walking but taking it in looking for the small details that most people miss. I take in the beauty and energy, and in those moments I am at peace. It definitely can’t hurt to try. Anywhere just find the unnoticed beauty!
It depends on what's causing the depression. If the root cause is biochemical, you may be on meds for life like me. But so what? People with diabetes have to take insulin their whole lives. Other people require regular medication to stay in reasonable health. The brain can malfunction like any other body part.
If it's not biochemical, then there is some sort of external cause and this needs to be zeroed in on with therapy. It may require temporary medication to first get you on an even keel and then through the coping skills and other things you learn through therapy you can completely recover.
But even if the root of your depression is biochemical, don't expect the meds to do all the work. Therapy and coping skills are likely still necessary and will help a great deal.
