I know that Benzos get a bad rap and it’s probably justified. But I was told by my GP and psychiatrist to take klonopin .50 morning and night. Twice a day. Any positive feed back on this because it works for me.

This is a good time to be your own advocate. Ask the doctor the same question about side effects and dependency. At the same time as what alternatives there are. Your right it gets a bad rap for a reason. That doesn’t mean it is a bad decision but I think it is important enough to be given options.
Hi Softball, There is a time and a place for using Benzos. Even though I am no longer on them, I would do it over again
in a heartbeat. Many moons ago it was a first choice drug
for Anxiety. I took it without any reservation. My problem
is that I was left on it for 30 years when it no longer worked
for me. I then was switched to an SSRI (Lexapro) which luckily
has worked very well.
We do what we have to do at the time. If it helps you have a better
quality of life, then so be it. Under the supervision of your physician
of course. Good Luck xx
Hey if it works for you keep taking it!
Klonopin was the only med that directly affected my anxiety and allowed me to feel what "normal" was like at the time and really helped on my healing journey. I'm glad I took it and I didn't have any issues tapering off of it when I quit. it gets a bad rap because it can be addicting for some people but I think it has benefited a lot of people.
Was on it for several years before it lost it's effectiveness. Very difficult to get off the drug. Very addictive. I am back on it now at a lowe dose. Better to be on it than experience debilitating anxiety.
I agree with the others. If your MD's feel you need it right now take it. You don't want to be on it long term, that's where the trouble starts.
Best of luck to you

They do have a bad rap because of addiction issues BUT my dr is also of the mind that if they "help" you and you arent having negative side effects then the pros outweigh the cons...but you also have to practice mindfulness, excercise, go to therapy , diet etc etc....i was on .5mg for many year when first diagnosed with panic disorder 30 yrs ago...then i stopped with no issues and now only take it on occassion when my anxiety is bad BUT i do take prozac - low dose 5mg to help stave off severe anxiety/depression
Thanks for your thoughts. I have a mindfulness practice but I dropped therapy. I think Prozac is the only med I haven’t tried. I’ve been on .50 mg of klonopin since 2016 for rem sleep disorder now being told to take .50 more just gives me pause. Sometimes you just have to trust the Doctor and roll with it.
You should do a lot of research on klonopin before you start it. Just my opinion
