I've been feeling anxiety for a while now, and I'm taking medication for it. Does anyone ever get better from dealing with it?

What is BOB?
When we suffer mental health concerns, generally we are given a Therapist we help us with various coping techniques. Sessions in the UK consist of twelve sessions. It is those sessions where patients are given coping techniques.
The patient then needs to use those techniques to help themselves. Sometimes these appointments become talked out and then the Therapist needs pass the patient on to a new CPN who can become proactive in helping the patient.
I hope that has helped you,
BOB
Hi, it's really hard to believe you will feel better sometimes I know, but you will. I've been there and medication has helped me a huge amount.
It takes a while to work but gradually you will feel better.
If one medication doesn't work for you another will, there are lots of different ones. X
Yes my dear you will. But besides the meds you must practice good self-care by: eating a healthy well balanced diet, exercising on daily basis, journaling and/or meditating/prayer to understand what's behind the anxiety. Anxiety is a lion that over time, with much patience can be TAMED. I could go on and on about depression/anxiety having suffered from both most of my life. I'm back to being in a good place but cannot take it for granted. You will over time come to understand this complex condition . I pray your journey will bring you all the insight, reslience you need to find peace of mind again.God bless and take care of the MOST important person in your life - YOU.
Thanks. I'll take your advice, and that was a lot of good advice.
You're most welcome...the people on this site are wonderful, honest people who understand the suffering you are going through because we all struggle with anxiety and/or depression and you have access to a wealth of information but most importantly know that you ARE NOT ALONE and are part of a special group of human beings!!!!
Things that help me. I take my medicine a beta blocker and klonopin. I start every morning with the Wim Hof guided breathing exercises free on you tube. After my shower I rinse in cold water for 5-10 minutes. You can start in cool and work down. I get 40 minutes of cardio exercise daily to produce endorphins that battle anxiety. Anxiety is an abnormal fight or flight response.
Hey there!! I struggle with anxiety too and let me tell you it isn't for the weak. I am on medication but realized that it wasn't giving me the full effect like I needed. I signed up for therapy so I have therapy sessions over zoom once a week for an hour and that has really helped me. If you can, I would recommend doing therapy in person but some areas it is hard to find therapists or in my case a therapist that I could afford. I would recommend trying both depending on how bad you struggle. I know for me it was making me depressed and I had a hard time holding down food or wanting to do certain things that I committed to. I also have a Christian meditation app that I use that helps me as well as different breathing apps and coping mechanisms. It won't go away but you can find some techniques that will often make it more manageable. I will pray for you that everything will get better.!! If you ever need a listening ear i'm here π
Yes, you can heal and recover from anxiety but I found that meds alone didn't do it and that this is also quite common for others with it.
What made the difference for me was finding out that I had been approaching anxiety totally wrong and instead of fighting it and trying to out think it, the answer is to learn to accept the anxious thoughts and feelings, let them pass through you and no longer fear them. I suggest the books of Dr. Calire Weekes and her youtube videos or the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos, I also like their phone app. learning to change your understanding of anxiety and your thinking about it and yourself is key.
Okay, Thank you for your resources! I will use them.
Yes Dr. Claire Weekes is a wonderful resource. She really helped me see anxiety in another way. It's not going to be one thing but a combination of solutions that you apply....one day at a time.....Sending hugs to you and all my fellow sufferers. As someone said in an earlier post anxiety and I add depression are NOT for the weak. God blessπ«ππ«π¦π»
Hello ππ½
Yes it can get better. When I was in my teens at the height of my anxiety. I wouldn't even leave the house. In my 20s I barely went anywhere. Through therapy and medication (Klonopin .5mg) I started to see a change. I was setting up goals and knocking them down.
In 2013 I got on an airplane by myself and flew across the country 2x! Going from being practically a shut-in to being on a plane!
Now yes recovery doesn't come alone. You do get setbacks now and again. I'm learning to cope with that. But with the right routine for you...you'll see it does get better. π
Oh. Well, thank god!
Yup!!! πππ
I have battled anxiety for years. I take medication and also have learned many different coping tools to help. I still have some bad days but I also have good ones. Everyone is different but you can get better.
