Depression or not?

How does one diagnose depression? And can anxiety meds cause it? I've tried 3 different meds within the last couple months to try to help my anxiety. Since I have started this journey I'm starting to hate life. It's a chore to get out of bed and when I do the farthest I make it is to the couch. I don't know what to do? Is this depression?

Hi Raesong,

If you have tried 3 meds in 3 months, then you haven't been giving your body time to adjust to them properly.

Many take at least a month before you start to feel different. Some folk take 3 weeks some up to 6 before the change is noticeable. The medication needs to build up in your body. Did your doctor not tell you?

Perhaps its time to find another doctor, and be a bit patient, It will be worth it in the end.

Cheers, Midori

It definitely sounds like depression. A counselor or a doctor can diagnose depression. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right medication or combination of medications that will successfully treat your symptoms. I know it's hard to be patient but help is on the way!

Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and debilitating disorder that affects the way you feel, the way you think and act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed.Examining how you feel. Definitely, only a doctor or mental health professional can confirm that.

But if you think you are depressed, take a test and share the results with your doctor.

A pessimistic or pessimistic view of your health is one of the most common symptoms of depression. Other feelings may be worthless, self-loathing, or guilt. Common, repetitive thoughts of depression may be expressed, “It's all my fault,” or “What's the point?”
