Ever wish you could take back something you said?

I obsess over things I do that I wish I could take back.I replied the wrong way after my friend told me she got a job at the same company I work for but in a different state.

I told her yay now we can message eachother. Then sent a separate text that I wish she would’ve told me before and put me down as a reference.

She replied: it didn’t cross my mind, my bad.

I put a :( face

She replied that she was hoping I’d be happy for her rather than making her feel like shit.

I tried to make it better and we both agreed we didn’t want to fight. Ultimately I am happy for her, I just think after I said that she doesn’t really believe me..

I also hate when people say “my bad”. I take it as a rude reply.

Now I feel like there’s tension. I’m obsessing over it and wish I could take it back completely. Ughhhhhh

She gossips alot too so Im sure this will get around that I’m not a great friend..

Hi there.I really identify with this, as I wrote something to a friend that I feel God-awful about.

There isn't much you can do other than apologize and say that it won't happen again. It's up to them whether they accept the apology or not.

I would just be honest with her. Messaging can be interpreted wrong very easily. I don't like the saying "my bad" either.

We can't take things back but we can move forward by apologizing or explaining what we meant. It sounds as though your friend took your reaction the wrong way. That's on her. You have done what you could. That's one of the reasons I prefer talking to texting. When you speak your tone of voice and what you say is important. I hope your friend takes the time to consider what you said and her reaction.

Oh, in answer to your question, tons of times! Sometimes I just don’t want to speak. It’s getting so I don’t want to write anything either.

Yes. It feels like what the police say. “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you.”

Absolutely. There’s nothing I can do at this point but apologize.. I know there’s still some tension even after we both agreed we didn’t want to fight. I know she feels hurt. I obsess over it in my head so much and wish I could take it back.

I feel bad for you, I don’t know what else to say. I’m terrible at trying to hold on to friends. Part of it is the fact that I’ve moved so many times to different areas. If you don’t see a person face to face at least once in awhile, you start to feel like they just exist on Facebook, no one you can really talk to. And really, texting is not the same as actually talking to someone. So many people who in some ways are pretending to be so busy. I would say try to have a real conversation with her and not text, but there’s so many people these days where that’s all they want to do!!!
