Does housework depress you or do you enjoy it.?

I used to really enjoy housework, but now not very much, but i do enjoy washing up even though i have a dishwasher i rarely use.

I keep the house together quite well, but am untidier than i ever used to be,before just everything had to be just perfect, but since losing my partner i must confess i am not nearly as house proud,i let things slide somewhat, but i could not become totally slovenly as i still possess a certain amount of pride and still like my home looking pretty decent, but its far from how it should be,I leave newspapers and correspondence scattered around and the odd piece of clothing ,and then i spend ages looking for things i've discarded but i no longer beat myself up about it.This to will pass. And as my close friend Chrissie says,'life is to short to do housework.'

I've never been thrilled with cleaning, but I do try to make myself clean up everything before I go to bed-it's so nice to have a clean kitchen in the morning. I live alone, so things don't ever get that bad, but I do tend to have shoes everywhere. I also still have my Christmas tree up-

I really don't like it !!! Having RA makes it more difficult , but tbh I didn't like it much before diagnosis🤗 Unfortunately I'm a bit of a hoarder- not obsessively so- but I go through phases when I have a massive declutter, which is always satisfying. I have a habit of moving stuff around from room to room and much of it ends up in the loft 😁🙄One good thing though, I like to keep the house clean - I'm fussy about hygiene.

I know that my true friends wont judge me on the state of my house - they accept me for what I am .

I used to drive myself to keep the house clean and organized. I spent every waking hour doing it. Now I have gone to the other extreme. The two spare bedrooms and my dining room look like a scene from "Hoarders". I can't find anything and end up buying things I don't need. But I have been slowly clearing things out. Once that's done I'll try for somewhere in between. My husband leaves things everywhere and I am only going to pick up after him if it's absolutely necessary like putting dirty dishes in the kitchen. Time to find the middle point.

My husband always leaves his mail lying around and there several piles around the room 🙄It drives me mad- paperwork is one thing I do like to keep on top of.

Hi. I used to like to clean. That is, until my husband started leaving his socks in odd places, and then gave smart-mouthed answers as to why they were there.

"Honey, what are your socks doing in the kitchen??"

"They’re eating".

""Honey, what are your socks doing on the couch?"

"They're watching TV"

I'm not staying at home now, but I am set to go back soon. I can't wait!🤦‍♀️

I have to confess I quite like housework except for the dreaded ironing which I can’t do because of my back and which I hate anyway lol, I try to keep it all under control otherwise it all gets too much for me and make me anxious, I know you won’t believe this but my favourite thing is cleaning my cooker 😳.

If I’m bored of anxious I get the Brillo and degreaser out and clean the hob , then all the oven racks and grill until it’s sparkling clean , I feel absolutely shattered but so pleased with myself and feel as if I’ve done a good job.

I don't like ironing and struggle with it too , so I try to buy clothes for myself that dont need ironing. Thankfully my husband irons his own clothes.

Btw- would you like to come and clean my cooker 🤔🤗😁

Hate it. Worst thing is the clang of dishes when I empty the dishwasher. Literally makes me cringe. I have cleaners come every two weeks. That is absolutely self care.

Way to go, Blueruth! A maid. 👍🏼 I hate it, too, but it feels so good when it’s over. Some one asked me what’s the worst part of housekeeping for me. I said..”Bending over”…..

I have no incentive anymore, I live by myself, I'm only fooling myself by doing any, isolation has stuck that into me over the last two years! The bare minimum to keep the house clean [a real tip at the moment] My nightmare now is..... visitors🥴🥴 although good advice 'life is to short to do housework.' [ironically I keep myself clean and tidy, must be leftover from Covid ?]
