What are some of the things that cause you to panic during the night?

Do you have any tips on how to reduce or overcome it?

I often find myself having panic attacks at night. For me personally though I am more anxious throughout the day BUT... I always end up having panic attacks at night! Some of the things that cause me to panic at night are Negative thoughts, Bodily sensations like the occasional heart palpitation, Racing heart beat and fear of dying will just set it off. Sometimes no matter how hard I try to stop the panic attacks from arising they just happen. So, when they do happen most of the time I am able to calm down with deep breathing and grounding techniques, I always listen to sleep meditation on Youtube before bed just as a preventive measure. "Jason Stephenson Guided sleep Meditation" helps me. I find his voice the most soothing out of all the others LOL. and rarely if I find myself in a terrible panic that just won't let up I'll head the the ER because I struggle with High BP and sometimes my heart rate won't slow down for a long time.If you ever wanna chat I'm all ears.

Best of luck.

My brain ALWAYS works faster at night, high blood pressure, much sharper now 1.30 am, but VERY hard to get to sleep, morning, stay away from me! epilepsy, usually have seizures in the morning, ironically feel very tired, leg muscles sore, temperature, VERY VERY hard to get up, I always struggle to get to a shower 🤗🤗🤗ALWAYS best time of the day! Hunter suggested Qigong meditation, about nine months ago, but finding it very hard to set up, as a daily routine?

I’m sorry to hear of the seizures in the morning, I can’t imagine the pain that comes afterwards. Not being able to get a good night sleep really affects mental and physical health for the day. I haven’t heard of qigong but I’m open to looking into it! Thanks

Its so hard to admit to insomnia and night time anxiety. I truly have no good way of stopping the rumination that keeps me up at night but taking Lexapro since about a month ago has reduced my overall anxiety but hasnt helped that much for sleep. Im all ears to anyones suggestions. I do breathing exercises and listen to sleep music, sleep stories and solfegio frequencies and chakra music but my mind overpowers it all many nights.

I don't panic at night, but during the day I can.

For me it's people, coming up behind me quietly and making me jump out of my skin, or tapping me on the shoulder, or appearing unexpectedly, or just a sudden loud noise. And the phone ringing!

It's a hangover from CPTSD.

Cheers, Midori

That is a good question. I think a lot has to do with our thoughts that cause us to panic. As those negative thoughts creep in I try to quickly change them to something positive. What helps me is to have a cup of tea, read a good book, read a devotional, pray and put on relaxing music before bed. If you want to share what concerns you please feel free to pm me. Often we need a reassuring voice to remind us we are OK. I will be praying for you. Hugs

Thank you for sharing and your reassurance. Currently I’m stressed with work and my new boss isn’t very nice. After a while I’m now telling myself I’m human and I’m doing the best I can. I work for a great company and would like to stay long enough to collect a bonus for my long hours and hard work.Other things I often think about is not having many friends and why I’m not included in some of their get togethers. It makes me think if I did something bad or if I’m miserable to be around. Hopefully I’ll get over and not care someday but it hurts a little now.

Another struggle I have is my parents being alcoholics and how I can’t rely or be around them very long. It makes me sad but I have to accept it if I want to continue having a relationship with them. It’s very sad, stressful and sometimes embarrassing.

I wish I could distract my mind to more positive thoughts, but the negatives seem to take over while I can’t sleep through the night.

I’m not religious so I would most likely need more spiritual practices or distraction.
