Oh, I can't recommend swimming enough! I was absolutely terrified of water, so I had a huge fight with this fear and eventually prevailed.
There's nothing more calming than just floating on your back. Closing your eyes, listening to the sea and to your breathing.... I always wish I lived by the sea....
Haha hello ken yes Iβm not thinking properly I think football is tip of my list really Iβm so uplifted now the season is back was a bit flat pre season πsorry to see Celtic blow it in mid week thought they had got that one
yeah gutted not this year or last year probably not next year either.my mate cycled up 11 miles for his ticket and cycled back again.met him today and hes not doing that again in a hurry.
I love it all. Robert Frost, Maya Angelou, even song lyrics are poetry to me like Korn and Linkin Park, such tortured souls.
I write some really dark ones and also ones to my baby, husband, mil and fil, also one to my son about being a stepmom. I have some published too in a book called Little Boy Blue, poetry from survivors of sexual abuse.
Though I have my favorite poets, like Sir John Betjeman (whose portrait serves as my avatar), I love discovering new poets, and there are so many to find online (including all the great songs)...even right here in the HealthUnlocked forums! I'll definitely see if I can find a copy of Little Boy Blue -- it's so important that voices like yours have sung out from the depths of such trauma.
For myself, I can only really say that every poem I write is different. Like you, I have written some poems that spoke directly to friends and family. But, to me, writing poetry is all about preserving and animating feelings/emotions in sounds that are particular to verse. Ultimately, it's an art of self-preservation.
